On Friday November 3rd, 2017 Banker Steel hosted their first graduation for individuals enrolled in the Virginia Technical Institute Welding certification program. The ceremony took place at Virginia Technical Institute with keynote speakers from Banker Steel, VTI, and the Region 2000 Workforce Development Board present to highlighting class achievements.
Amherst County has been awarded a multi-year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), at $700,00 for multi-year 1 and $10,624 for multi-year 2, from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) to continue community revitalization within the Old Town Madison Heights (OTMH) community.
The Local Government Council and RideSolutions are co-sponsoring a presentation by Dr. Stephen Farnsworth on How Political Results Could Impact Economic Decisions on December 14th as part of the Lynchburg Business Alliance 2017 Economic Summit. The presentation will be at the Business Alliance offices at 300 Lucado Place, Lynchburg.
The Region 2000 Local Government Council and Central Virginia MPO, in partnership with Bedford County and the City of Lynchburg, and with assistance from EPR, P.C., are conducting a study of Graves Mill Road between Gristmill Road and McConville Road in the City of Lynchburg. The study began in August of 2017 and will conclude Spring 2018.
The study effort will developshort and long-term recommendations that will help to minimize congestion and improve travel conditions and safety along this important corridor.
