Olde Town Madison Heights Revitalization Project
The Old Madison Heights neighborhood is one of oldest residential areas of Amherst County. Developed in the early 1900’s as a rural Village community outside the City of Lynchburg, this close-knit community of approximately 250 homes represents the highest density of residents in Amherst County.
The Old Town Madison Heights Revitalization Project – Stumps Hill Area (OMH Stumps Hill CDBG) represents a Phase 1 project to revitalize this historic and thriving Amherst County community. The project will provide infrastructure (water, sewer, roadway) and housing improvements and is funded primary through a $1,222,249 multi-year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD). The project also includes funding contribution from Amherst County and program partnership from USDA Rural Development and VDOT. This project represents the first in an envisioned long-term series of improvements to revitalize this vital and historic Amherst County community.
